A starlight in the gloom by Gin85 A starlight in the gloom by Gin85
This is my tribute to the great musicians known as Muse.
I've spent countless hours on it so I hope it was worth it. My scanner ruined it a bit as usual.

A3 size, H - 8B pencils, coloured pencils, watercolour pencils and white acrylic paint
No smudging this time, I left the pencil drawings rough.

The title comes from the song "Sing for absolution" by Muse

Thank you!! Well, the idea came almost immediately after I saw them live (you can tell from the hexagons ;-) ), the best gig I've been to, it's over a year now and my mind is still blown away :-)

I know what you mean, I saw them on the 15th of December last year and it's still a blurr of higher-level consciousness and life-changing EPIC AWESOMENESS!!! But I can't distinguish one moment from the next, there are just a few clear bits in between the blurr of epicness - it was just too amazing to remember properly. :P
Thankfully I found the mp3 download of my entire concert online, and it's really good quality! It's such a relief to hear it all, and I can go onto youtube and watch the vids whenever I want! :D My only regret is that I didn't know a lot of the songs at the time. I didn't realise how truly great Muse were until I saw them live.
Which gig did you go to? :D
I've never watched an Undisclosed Desires vid so I can't remember what was on the towers :/ link plz? :D

It's the same with me! I didn't even realized Matt talked that much (well, considering he usually doesn't talk apart from occassional "thanks" and "cheers") and the reviews actually "blamed" them from not communicating with the crowd much (but I bet it's because Matt's speed-of-light-speeches cause noone really noticed he actually talked :D ) But hopefully someone recorded the whole gig as well (I mean the audio) in a very good quality so I can listen to it whenever I want to :-) I saw them at the Rock for People festival (Czech Republic) on 5th July last year. The festival takes place in my hometown, I go there every year, I never thought I'd see so many great bands in my town cause I don't live in the capital city. And because it was a festival gig they used the hexagonal screens which looked bloody amazing. Here's a video from the gig I went to, it's quite good quality [link]
Have to say I didn't know all the lyrics to every song they played as well cause, you know, my journey to fully discovering Muse was pretty long and complicated :D The first song I've heard was Muscle Museum in 2000 or so and I really loved that song but I was like 15 years old and stupid so when my friend said to me that Matt sings too high and that it's awful I didn't continue listening to them.....although I quite liked the singles they released during the past ten years and when I got older and older I started to like them more and more and after I saw them live I couldn't stop listening to them :-)
Sorry for writting a novel instead of a comment ;-)

I actually remembered roughly what Dom and Matt said, but it was still awesome to hear it again ncie and clear :) I love the way Matt goes, 'thankyouverymuch' and it sounds like 'thavehmuch' he makes it into 3 syllables!! xD Dom didn't actually say cheers to us, he did most of the (limited, as you said) talking! I don't think they need to be blamed for not talking, how can a reviewer say they're not communicating with the crowd when the crowd is so utterly absorbed by their music!!! Music IS communication!
Hopefully someone recorded your concert, yes :) try googling it? I found mine via an internet radio site of some sort, maybe 'lastfm' and followed a link from there.
That would have been awesome to see them at a festival! I'm so jealous of the people going to Reading or Leeds this year!
Cool, the hexagonal screens are indeed EPIC. I got the towers and I thought they were pretty epic too! :D I'm the same, I didn't love Muse as totally and loyally as I do now until I went to the concert. Shame you listened to your friend when you were 15, muscle museum is awesome!
At least you've completed your MUSEical journey now :)

I remembered (well not every word) what Dom said (usual stuff, that we're looking good, rocking out etc., not sure bout cheers though, maybe at the end :D )but really didn't catch what Matt said. I've already found the recorded gig on some czech website ;-) So I could finally listen to what Matt really said...it was the usual stuff plus mentioning the fact that it was their first gig in the Czech republic (I really hope they'll come here again). And I don't got it why they blamed them for "not talking much" cause they don't need to talk at all!
The towers must have been spectacular indeed :-)
Yeah, I'd love to see them at Reading or Leeds....hope they'll be broadcasting it or something like that...
I was really stupid back then, I know but the important thing is that I've finally found my way to their music ;-)

That's great that your gig was recorded too! :D It takes a few listens to decode what Matt actually says but it's worth it! :D
Yeah it's always wonderful to hear their voices but I think the fact that they don't talk much makes it more special when they do. And music is communication, and much better communication than words. You don't even need to speak the same language, I bet lots of the people at your concert couldn't speak English! :)
The towers were spectacular. That's a good word for them!
Maybe they'll make a DVD of reading and leeds? :D
Yep, the important thing is that we've now found our way :)

Yeah, I'm always a bit ashamed when I'm at some concert and the crowd doesn't understand a word...but it got a bit better now, most of them usually understand ;-)
A DVD from Reading and Leeds would be amazing! :excited:
